Procedures & services

Every procedure, explained in full.

What each treatment is, what it treats, what the appointment is like, and how much downtime to plan for. All performed by Dr. Nawas.

New patient consultation, $250
Thirty unhurried minutes with Dr. Nawas. You leave with a plan whether or not you treat anything that day.
Hair loss consultation, $250
Includes trichoscopy, a magnified scalp exam, so the diagnosis comes before any treatment.

Injectables

Precise, reversible where possible, and placed by anatomy rather than by trend.

Neurotoxins

Botox, Dysport and Daxxify

Relaxes the specific muscles that fold skin into lines, without flattening expression.

Three products, carried because they are not interchangeable. They differ in how fast they take effect, how far they spread, and how long they last. Botox is the most precise for small areas, and Dysport spreads a little more for broad ones.

What it treats
Frown lines, forehead lines, crow's feet, a gummy smile, chin dimpling, neck bands, a subtle brow lift, jaw clenching and TMJ pain, underarm sweating.
What to expect
A fifteen to twenty minute visit. Results begin in three to seven days depending on the product and peak at about two weeks.
Downtime
None. Normal activity immediately. Minor bruising is possible.
Typical cost
$16 per unit, most visits $500 to $1,400

Dermal fillers

Juvederm, Restylane and RHA fillers

Restores volume and structure where time has taken it, in the right plane and the right amount.

Hyaluronic acid fillers placed with a fine needle or a blunt cannula. They are reversible, which matters. Dr. Nawas works structure first and surface second, and treats in stages rather than doing everything in one visit.

What it treats
Cheeks and midface, temples, tear troughs, folds around the mouth, lip border and shape, jawline and chin, nose, backs of the hands, depressed scars.
What to expect
Thirty to sixty minutes. You will be asked to return in two to four weeks so the result can be assessed as it settles.
Downtime
Swelling and possible bruising for a few days. Most patients are presentable the next day.
Typical cost
$800 to $1,250 per syringe

Sculptra

Poly-L-lactic acid biostimulator

Rebuilds volume gradually through your own collagen rather than filling it directly.

A biostimulator. Instead of adding volume, it prompts your skin to produce collagen over the following months. Because the change is gradual and built by your own tissue, it is close to undetectable. Radiesse is used where a firmer, more immediate lift is wanted.

What it treats
Generalized facial volume loss, temples, cheeks, jawline, and crepey skin quality.
What to expect
A series, usually two or three sessions spaced weeks apart. The result develops over three to six months.
Downtime
Swelling for a day or two. Massage is required afterward and the protocol will be explained.
Typical cost
$1,100 per vial, a first session is typically $2,200

Kybella

Deoxycholic acid injections for fullness under the chin

Dissolves fat beneath the chin without surgery.

An injectable form of a molecule your body already uses to break down dietary fat. Injected into the fat under the chin, it destroys the fat cells permanently.

What it treats
Fullness under the chin. Candidacy depends on whether the fullness is fat rather than skin laxity, which is assessed at consultation.
What to expect
Fifteen to twenty minutes per session. Most patients need two to four sessions spaced about a month apart.
Downtime
Significant swelling under the chin for several days to two weeks. This is expected and should be planned around.
Typical cost
$800 per session, usually 2 to 4 sessions

Filler dissolving and correction

Hyaluronidase (Hylenex)

Reverses hyaluronic acid filler that has migrated, accumulated, or gone further than intended.

An enzyme that breaks hyaluronic acid down. We treat patients whose filler was placed elsewhere, and you will not be asked to justify the decision. It has no effect on Radiesse, Sculptra, PMMA products, or silicone, so identifying the product first is the important step.

What it treats
Migration above the lip border, accumulated volume across years of treatment, under-eye puffiness or a bluish cast, lumps and asymmetry, and urgent vascular complications.
What to expect
Comparable to a filler appointment. Often staged across more than one visit so you do not go from overfilled to hollow in an afternoon. Assessed at about two weeks.
Downtime
Swelling for a few days. Expect the area to look deflated at first while the skin retracts.
Typical cost
$500 per session

Lasers and energy

Three platforms, chosen for the case, every one operated by Dr. Nawas herself.

Fraxel FTX

Fractional resurfacing, 1550 and 1927 nm

Treats pigment and texture at two depths in one session, with days of downtime rather than weeks.

A non-ablative fractional laser. It treats microscopic columns of skin and leaves healthy tissue in between, which speeds healing. The 1550 nm wavelength works deeper for texture, wrinkles and scarring. The 1927 nm wavelength works at the surface for pigment and sun damage.

What it treats
Sun spots and uneven tone, actinic keratoses, fine lines, crepey texture, acne and surgical scars, melasma when used cautiously, and overall skin quality.
What to expect
Topical numbing first. The session itself is short. Improvement continues for months as collagen remodels.
Downtime
Three to five days of redness and a sandpaper texture as treated skin sheds. Most patients plan it around a long weekend.
Typical cost
$1,800 for the face, other areas and combinations $750 to $2,500

Vbeam Pro

Pulsed dye laser, 595 nm and 1064 nm

The current generation of the gold-standard vascular laser, with a second wavelength for deeper vessels.

Candela's newest pulsed dye laser. The 595 nm wavelength is absorbed specifically by hemoglobin, so it closes an unwanted vessel while leaving surrounding skin alone. The added 1064 nm wavelength reaches deep blue veins and venous lakes that 595 nm cannot. Cryogen cooling fires immediately before each pulse.

What it treats
Rosacea and facial flushing, broken capillaries, angiomas, port wine stains, deep blue veins and venous lakes, red and raised scars, inflammatory acne, and warts.
What to expect
Fifteen to thirty minutes for a full face. Settings are chosen with you, including whether to accept temporary bruising for a stronger result.
Downtime
Usually a few hours of pinkness. Purpuric settings for stubborn vessels can bruise for several days, always discussed first.
Typical cost
$500 to $1,000 per session, by area

GentleMax Pro

Alexandrite 755 nm and Nd:YAG 1064 nm laser

Two wavelengths in one platform, so hair removal is safe across the full range of skin tones.

A separate Candela platform from the Vbeam family. The 755 nm alexandrite wavelength suits lighter skin and finer hair. The 1064 nm Nd:YAG wavelength bypasses surface pigment, which makes it the safer choice for deeper skin tones. Dynamic cooling protects the surface with a cryogen burst before each pulse.

What it treats
Permanent hair reduction on all skin types, plus facial and leg veins, venous lakes, angiomas, rosacea, sun spots and age spots, and pseudofolliculitis barbae. Medically indicated hair removal for hidradenitis suppurativa and PCOS-related hirsutism.
What to expect
Hair removal is a series, typically six sessions spaced weeks apart. Vascular and pigment work is usually shorter.
Downtime
Redness and mild swelling around the follicles for a few hours to a day.
Typical cost
$200 to $1,300 per session, by area

Regenerative and resurfacing

Treatments that prompt your own skin to rebuild rather than adding something to it.

Platelet-rich plasma

RegenPRP, with the RegenLab system

Your own growth factors, prepared with the RegenLab system, for thinning hair and tired skin.

A small blood draw is spun in the RegenLab RegenKit system, a closed, FDA-cleared kit that removes more than 99 percent of red blood cells and recovers over 80 percent of your platelets, and the concentrate is placed in the scalp or skin. Nothing foreign is introduced. Results build over months, and because the treatment supports existing follicles, earlier is better.

What it treats
Thinning at the part line, temples, and crown; under-eye hollows and dark circles; skin quality, and melasma as part of a plan.
What to expect
An initial series of three, then maintenance. About forty-five minutes per visit including the draw and preparation.
Downtime
Scalp tenderness for a day. Hair can be washed the following morning.
Typical cost
$600 to $1,500 per session

Subcision

Release of tethered and depressed scars

Releases the fibrous bands that tether a depressed scar to the tissue beneath it.

A minor in-office procedure. A fine instrument is passed under the scar to divide the bands pulling it down, which lets the skin lift and allows new collagen to form in the space. It addresses the mechanical cause that resurfacing alone cannot reach.

What it treats
Rolling acne scars, tethered surgical scars, and depressed scars that have not improved with lasers.
What to expect
Local anesthesia. Usually combined with resurfacing, Sculptra or filler over a treatment course rather than done alone.
Downtime
Bruising and swelling for several days to a week, sometimes more. Planned in advance.
Typical cost
Quoted at consultation

Chemical peels

Salicylic acid, Jessner's and TCA peels

Controlled exfoliation that improves tone and clears the precancerous damage sun leaves behind.

A solution is applied to remove damaged surface layers in a controlled way. Depth is selected for your skin and your goal, from a light refresh with no visible peeling to a medium-depth treatment for pigment and actinic damage.

What it treats
Uneven tone and dullness, sun damage, actinic keratoses, melasma as part of a plan, acne and superficial scarring.
What to expect
Twenty to thirty minutes. Frequently done as a short course rather than one visit.
Downtime
None to about a week, depending entirely on the depth chosen.
Typical cost
$250 to $500 per session, larger areas up to $1,000

Surgical and medical

Skin cancer, growths and rashes, treated with a surgeon's precision and a cosmetic eye.

Mohs micrographic surgery

By a fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon

The most precise method for removing skin cancer, with the highest cure rates.

The cancer is removed one thin layer at a time and each layer is examined under a microscope before the next is taken, so only cancerous tissue is removed. Dr. Nawas removes the tissue, reads the slides herself, and performs the reconstruction. One surgeon, one day, one room.

What it treats
Basal cell and squamous cell carcinoma, particularly on the face, ears, nose, lips, eyelids and hands where tissue cannot be spared.
What to expect
Plan for most of the day, though the surgery itself is short procedures with waiting in between. Local anesthesia only. Most patients need one or two layers.
Downtime
Sutures for one to two weeks. Written wound-care instructions and direct portal access to the doctor.
Typical cost
Original Medicare accepted

Surgical excision

Growths and skin cancers

Complete removal of a lesion with a repair planned for how it will look in a year.

Used for lesions that do not require Mohs, and for benign growths a patient wants removed. The repair is planned with the same attention given to a cosmetic procedure, because a scar on the face is a cosmetic outcome whatever the reason for the surgery.

What it treats
Skin cancers on the trunk and limbs, atypical moles, cysts, lipomas, benign growths, and torn earlobes.
What to expect
Local anesthesia, usually under an hour. Tissue is sent for pathology where appropriate.
Downtime
Sutures for one to two weeks. Activity restrictions depending on the site.
Typical cost
$500 to $2,500 by procedure

Skin biopsy

Shave, punch or excisional biopsy

A small sample taken so a diagnosis is made on evidence rather than appearance.

Shave, punch, or excisional biopsy depending on what is being ruled out. The technique is chosen to give the pathologist what they need while leaving the smallest possible mark.

What it treats
Changing or suspicious moles, growths of unclear origin, and rashes that have not responded to treatment.
What to expect
A few minutes under local anesthesia. Results are typically back within about a week and Dr. Nawas calls with them herself.
Downtime
A small wound with a dressing for several days.
Typical cost
$300

Read the full Skin biopsy guidePricing

Cryotherapy

Liquid nitrogen for precancerous and benign lesions

Liquid nitrogen used to destroy precancerous and benign lesions in seconds.

A quick and long-established in-office treatment. Freezing destroys abnormal cells and lets the skin heal from underneath.

What it treats
Actinic keratoses, warts, seborrheic keratoses, and other benign lesions.
What to expect
Seconds per lesion. Stinging during treatment and for a short time afterward.
Downtime
A blister or scab for one to two weeks. Temporary lightening of the treated spot is possible, more noticeable in deeper skin tones.
Typical cost
$200 per session
