Dermal fillers
Juvederm, Restylane and RHA hyaluronic acid fillers
Hyaluronic acid fillers restore volume and structure where time has taken it, placed in the right plane and the right amount. They are reversible, which matters. Dr. Nawas works structure first and surface second, and treats in stages rather than all at once.

How it works
What is actually happening.
Hyaluronic acid is a substance naturally found in the skin that helps hold water. Made into a smooth gel and placed beneath the skin, it can restore support, soften folds and replace volume that has been lost over time. Where it is placed matters as much as how much is used. Placed thoughtfully, filler restores what was there rather than simply adding volume.
Different fillers have different firmness, flexibility and movement, which makes each better suited to certain areas and goals. Dr. Nawas selects the product and injection technique based on your anatomy and what she is trying to restore. She may use a blunt cannula where it lowers the risk of bruising and a fine needle where greater precision is needed. Because these fillers are made with hyaluronic acid, they can also be dissolved if necessary.
Your visit
What the appointment is like.
Plan
Dr. Nawas assesses your face at rest and in motion, takes photographs, and reviews the areas to treat, the product and the expected number of syringes before anything is opened.
Numb
Topical numbing cream is applied for about 30 minutes. Most hyaluronic acid fillers also contain lidocaine for added comfort during treatment.
Treat
Treatment usually takes about 20 to 40 minutes. Dr. Nawas may use a cannula in some areas and a fine needle in others, depending on the anatomy and the precision needed.
Settle
Mild swelling, tenderness or bruising is common for the first few days. A follow-up in two to four weeks allows Dr. Nawas to assess the result once the filler has settled.
Before and after your appointment
Simple preparation, simple recovery.
Before
- Tell Dr. Nawas about a history of cold sores, autoimmune conditions, previous filler, planned dental work or pregnancy.
- To help reduce bruising, avoid ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E and similar over-the-counter supplements for 5 to 7 days beforehand when medically appropriate. Do not stop aspirin or any prescribed medication.
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours beforehand.
- If you are preparing for an important event, schedule treatment two to four weeks in advance so swelling and bruising have time to resolve and the result can settle.
Afterward
- Apply ice gently as needed the first evening and avoid unnecessary pressure on the treated areas.
- Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas and facials for 24 to 48 hours.
- Avoid elective dental work for about two weeks after treatment when possible.
- Mild swelling, tenderness or bruising may occur and usually improves over several days. Makeup can generally be applied after 24 hours if the skin is intact.
- Contact the clinic immediately for severe or unusual pain, blanching, a dusky or mottled appearance, or any unexpected change in skin color.

Most first visits use one to three syringes. You will know the count before anything is opened. Estimates for planning. Dr. Nawas confirms your exact plan and price at the consultation, and you pay only for what is used. Cosmetic care is not billed to insurance. How insurance, superbills and financing work here.
Good to know
Questions patients ask.
Will it look natural?
That is the goal. Dr. Nawas places filler according to your anatomy, restoring support and volume without changing what makes you look like yourself.
How long does it last?
Most hyaluronic acid fillers last about 9 to 12 months in the lips and 12 to 18 months in areas such as the cheeks and jawline, sometimes longer. Longevity varies by product, treatment area and how your body metabolizes the filler.
What if I do not like it?
Hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved with an enzyme if needed. That reversibility is one reason Dr. Nawas prefers hyaluronic acid fillers over permanent products.
