Platelet-rich plasma
RegenPRP, prepared with the RegenLab system
Platelet-rich plasma uses growth factors from your own blood to prompt repair: thicker hair where follicles are thinning, and brighter, firmer skin under the eyes and across the face. Nothing foreign is introduced. What makes the difference is how the plasma is prepared, and that is where ZN Dermatology is deliberate.
What it treats
Is this for you?
- Thinning hair at the part line, temples and crown, in men and women
- Under-eye hollows and dark circles
- Skin quality, fine lines and texture on the face
- Melasma, as part of a plan
- Acne scars, with subcision or Fraxel
- Soft volume with PRF plasma filler, where filler is not wanted
How it works
What is actually happening.
Platelets are the part of your blood that starts healing. Concentrated and placed where you want repair, they release growth factors over the following days that recruit repair cells, build new blood supply and switch fibroblasts and hair follicles back on. In the scalp, that means thicker, stronger hairs from follicles that were shrinking but not gone. In the skin, it means new collagen and better circulation, which is why under-eye darkness improves.
The result depends on what is actually in the syringe. A PRP is only as good as its platelet count, its purity and its sterility, and those vary enormously between preparation methods. Blood spun in a standard laboratory tube and drawn off by hand can contain little more platelet than whole blood, along with red cells and inflammatory white cells that work against the very repair you are paying for.
Why the preparation matters
Not all PRP is the same. Ours is RegenPRP.
ZN Dermatology prepares every treatment with the RegenLab RegenKit system, a Swiss-designed, FDA-cleared kit used in dermatology, hair restoration and orthopedics worldwide. Here is what that changes.
A closed, single-use kit, cleared by the FDA for preparing PRP
Your blood is drawn straight into the sterile kit and never leaves a sealed system. No open transfer, no pipetting by hand, and far lower risk of contamination.
A separator gel does the separating
One five-minute spin produces a clean layer of platelet-rich plasma with more than 99 percent of red blood cells removed. Red cells are pro-inflammatory and break down into iron that damages tissue; they are what make some PRP injections painful and less effective.
Consistent platelet recovery, visit after visit
The system recovers over 80 percent of your platelets, including the largest ones that carry the most growth factors, at a standardized concentration. The same blood volume gives the same product every time, whoever is in the room.
Low in inflammatory white cells
About 96 percent of granulocytes, the white cells that drive inflammation, are removed. That makes the treatment more comfortable and keeps the healing response constructive rather than inflammatory.
Platelets stay intact until they are placed
A gentle, pH-neutral citrate anticoagulant keeps the platelets unactivated in the tube, so they release their growth factors in your tissue, where you need them.
The system Dr. Nawas trusts
She used the RegenLab system for six years at Baylor College of Medicine, chose it for ZN Dermatology on results rather than cost, and prepares every kit herself.
Your visit
What the appointment is like.
Draw
A small blood draw, one or two tubes, from your arm.
Prepare
The sealed tube is spun for about five minutes. The gel separates a clean layer of platelet-rich plasma, which Dr. Nawas draws into syringes.
Treat
After numbing, the plasma is placed with a fine needle: across the thinning scalp, or into the under-eye and cheeks. About 20 minutes.
Repeat
A series of three sessions, four to six weeks apart, then maintenance every six to twelve months.
Before and after your appointment
Simple preparation, simple recovery.
Before
- Drink water and eat a normal meal beforehand; it makes the draw easier and the plasma better.
- Pause anti-inflammatories such as ibuprofen for five days if your doctors agree; they blunt the platelet response.
- For hair, arrive with a clean, product-free scalp.
Afterward
- Scalp tenderness or mild swelling for a day; hair can be washed the next morning.
- For the face, mild swelling and pinkness for one to three days.
- No anti-inflammatories or alcohol for two days; gentle exercise the next day.
- For hair, combining PRP with medical therapy gives the best results.

Good to know
Questions patients ask.
Who is a good candidate for hair?
Anyone whose hair is thinning rather than gone. PRP supports living follicles, so earlier is better. Dr. Nawas confirms the diagnosis with trichoscopy first, because not all hair loss responds.
Is all PRP the same?
No. Preparation determines the platelet count, the red cell contamination and the sterility of what is injected, and those determine the result. That is why the section above exists.
How soon will I see hair?
Shedding slows within a couple of months; new density is visible at three to six months and continues to build. Photographs at each visit make the change easy to see.

Your own growth factors, prepared with the RegenLab system, for thinning hair and tired skin.
New to ZN Dermatology? Choose a hair loss consultation: not every kind of hair loss responds to PRP, so Dr. Nawas makes the diagnosis first with a magnified scalp exam. The first treatment can usually be done at the same visit.
